Research and Collaboration

Lund University School of Aviation (LUSA) conducts research, and provides research infrastructures, within Aeronautical Sciences. Our three research focus areas include Sustainable Aviation, Unmanned Aviation as well as Aviation Safety.

LUSA’s presence at Campus Ljungbyhed (an active airport) gives a unique opportunity for Lund University, in collaboration with other actors, to build an accessible infrastructure for research, development and test of future technologies and system solutions for fossile-free, sustainable, unmanned and safe aviation.

Our infrastructures include a jet engine lab, equipped for development and testing of new sustainable aviation fuels and engine technologies, a UAS Lab for development and test of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and their applications, as well as a testbed for ‘The Electrified Airport’, which should be able to generate, convert, store and distribute fossile free energy to different airport systems. We are also engaged in competence development and transfer within all our research areas, in order to secure available competence for the actors and projects which are the end users of our infrastructures.
